Chapter Fourteen: Silent War!

Something flew towards her, hitting the birds and causing them to fly away. Alexander walked over, and picked whatever it was up. He latched his watch back on his wrist; he’d throw his watch at the birds. I looked up at him, his dark hair casting a deep shadow over his eyes. He glanced down at her, and she saw a spot of blue under all that black; his eyes were blue. Again, he didn’t offer to help her up, instead he stood there starin at her. “I have a feeling I’ve seen you before” she whispered; hoping he’d heard her.

“I’ve never seen you before in my entire life” he snarled, his face suddenly hard and cruel.

She stared at him in shock. Only moments ago he’d saved her from being crushed and he shooed away the crows she was too frightened by to defend herself against. What was with this guy? Did he suffer bipolar disorder or something? Did he truly hate her? I kept looking up at him, and realized he still hadn’t moved from where he stood above her.

“Please move out of the way, you’re probably scaring her” Jean shoved past him and sat down next to Constance.

“I’m scaring her? That’s funny, I thought I was saving her” he muttered before walking towards Henry.

“Hello? Earth to Connie!” Jean’s hand waved in front of her face before she yanked her off the ground and to her feet.

“Yes?” Constance answered, clearing her throat and brushing off her shirt.

“Are you sure you’re feeling okay? You look like you just saw a ghost” she pressed her hand to her forehead again.

“I don’t feel too well” Constance managed, keeping her voice low.

“Then go tell Ms. Widow” Jean suggested, then started walking back towards her work station.

“Ms. Widow? I don’t feel too good…” Constance curled her arms around her own stomach.

“Let me feel your forehead” Ms. Widow held a wrinkly, withered, hand outstretched towards her.

“Sure” she leaned forward to meet her hand so she could lay down or take some medicine to get out of here.

“There’s a possibility you may have a fever, report to the nurse’s office immediately” she glanced at the building and then back to Constance.

“Yes ma’am” Constance murmured, nodding in response.

“Mr. Nolan, escort Miss Marie to the hospital wing right now” Ms. Widow demanded.

He nodded, starting to walk forward without her, she followed far from him.

“Hey you” Johnny appeared next to her.

“You stalking me now?” she solicited in a low voice.

“I didn’t think you’d get detention on your first day” he shrugged.

“Well I did” she pushed her hands into her pockets.

“Whatcha in for?” he asked curiously.

    “I don’t know” she shrugged.

“You’re not supposed to be roaming the grounds alone”

“He’s escorting me” she looked up to see Alexander just a few feet in front of her. When she’d started walking he was at least 30 feet away, now he was closer and staring right at her.

“I turn my back and you’ve already got a hold of her” Alexander growled.

“I didn’t see your running up to welcome her back” Johnny crossed his arms over his chest.

“I don’t remember ever having to” Alexander retorted.

    “Excuse me?” Constance questioned.

“I’m sorry Constance…it’s nothing” Johnny covered.

“It didn’t sound like nothing” she crossed her arms over her chest.

“Would you like me to explain?” Johnny asked, looking down at her.

"You can’t do that” Alexander glared at him.

    “And why not?” she asked.

“You remember just as well as I do what happened to Diana” Alexander growled at Johnny; ignoring her completely.

"Diana Constance Marie, right?” she looked up at Johnny.

“Let her deiced for herself” he took a step forward.

“Because that worked so well the first time!” Alexander shouted.

“You’re’ just jealous!” Johnny yelled back.

“Both of you shut up!” she hissed. “My head hurts and your yelling isn’t helping! Just take me to the nurses already!”

    “Who?” Johnny asked specifically.

"For indecisive reasons, both of you”

“Sounds fine to me” Johnny put a heavy hand on her shoulder.

“No,” she slipped from under his touch. “None of you are allowed to so much as touch me until I know what’s going on” I said furiously.

“And that sounds fine to me” Alexander grumbled.

“Look out Nolan, I’m gonna win this time” Johnny snarled angrily; calling Alexander by his last name instead.

“This isn’t a game, Johnny” Alexander roared.

“Oh but it is…and you’re winning streak ends now” Johnny growled in a harsh tone.
