Kris's Final Novel<3

Chapter One: Preparation!

“What Jean?” she panted. “What was so urgent that I had to run down 15 flights of stairs"

“You act as if you’re going to die. It was just a little exercise.” Jean shrugged.

    “Hurry up, jesus” she grumbled.

“Well you know how you, like, love Robert Pattinson?” she smiled widely.

“Uh, no. Jean, that’s you. You’re the one who’s been obsessed with him since that Twilight movie.” She corrected.

“Details, details!” Jean waved her hands dismissively. “Well, I got us tickets to see him play piano in concert!”

“Oh no, I am not going to another one of your crazy celebrity crush concerts. Don’t you remember that Jonas Brother’s concert we went to? It was a disaster!”

“We were 10! This’ll be so much better!” Jean exclaimed.

“I don’t want to stand in a room filled with crazy girls who are in love with some wanna-be teenage vampire hunk.” She said crossly.

    “Connie, please?” Jean whined.

“I told you to stop calling me that” she said.

“You honestly think that just because you say you’re going to start using a different name for school I’m going to call you by it? You’re nuts”

“Fine, just explain this to me…why you can’t go to your lame concert by yourself?”

“Well, I know Ethan won’t want to go” Jean complained.

“I heard my name,” Ethan stated, stopping next to Jean. “Hey ‘Kimberly’” he said sarcastically.

“Ew!” Jean’s nose scrunched up like she’d smelt something foul.

    “What?” Ethan asked.

“You’re using your middle name? Gross. You don’t even look like a Kimberly!” she scolded her.

“So? Does it really matter? I don’t have to look like a Kimberly to use the name”

“Can I call you Kimmy for short?” Ethan teased.

“Shut up” Kimberly rolled her eyes.

“So I can?” he smirked. “Yes!” he mocked, pulling his fist down by bending his elbow like little kids did when they  got something they wanted.

“C’mon, please? The concert will be amazing! Please?!” Jean begged.

“What if I’m sick?” Kimberly argued.

“Its’ tonight, and you look fine to me” Jean stated.

Kimberly coughed, it was fake of course, and attempted to make her voice hoarse. “I think I suddenly came down with something”

    “Connie!” Jean whined.

“Stop calling me that!” Kimberly shouted.

“If I stop will you come with me to the Robert Pattinson concert?” she smiled.

“Fine! I’ll go to the stinkin’ concert with you!” Kimberly sighed, exasperated as she sat down on the steps to her loft-like building.

“Aw, c’mon ‘Kimmy’,” Ethan sat down next to her, and wrapped his arm around her shoulders. “You’ll have a great time watching Rob-what’s his face, playing the piano”

“It’s Robert Pattinson!” Jean corrected harshly.

Kimberly looked up at Ethan; his dirty blonde hair windblown and cut short, exposing his warm brown eyes. She put her elbows on her knees, and put her chin on the heels of her hands as she watched him. He stared right back at her, then started to smile; white as snow, his smile grew wider. “Whatcha starin’ at? Do I have something in my teeth?”

“No, you don’t have anything in your teeth, Ethan” Kimberly gave him a small smile.

“She was staring at your face, dumbo” Jean grumbled.

“I am pretty good lookin’, huh?” Ethan smiled.

Kimberly laughed, and felt as if the weight started to lift off her shoulders. Ethan always seemed to know how to make her feel better somehow; he was her best guy friend, after all. “Sure you are Ethan, whatever helps you sleep at night”

“That would be my nightlight,” he joked. “I can’t sleep without it, can you keep a secret?”

Kimberly nodded, smiling while she did so. “Yes” she laughed.

Ethan leaned over close to her and whispered, “I’m still scared of the dark”

    “Seriously?”

“No,” he laughed. “I haven’t been scared of the dark since I was, like, 5”

“She’s still scared of the dark” Jean smiled and pointed at Kimberly.

    “Really?” Ethan looked at her.

“She makes me leave the closet light on when she sleeps over,” Jean explained. “It’s weird”

“Didn’t mommy ever tell you that there’s no monster in your closet?” Ethan joked.

“Of course she did,” Kimberly argued. “I’m used to having my brother scare me while I’m sleeping, and it’s better if I can see what’s going on around me at night”

“Way to make me seem stupid” Jean complained.

    “Sorry Jean” Kimberly shrugged.

                        ***-__-***

“Constance! Jean is here!” Her mother yelled.

“Alright mom! Send her up!” Constance-Kimberly, as she liked to be called-lived on the top floor of their loft, and enjoyed the view of the city at night.

“Hey, open up chick!” Jean shouted.

“Alright, alright, calm down Princess” Kimberly opened her door, pulling on her shirt as she turned around.

“Ew! No, you can’t wear that!” Jean shouted.

“Why not?” Kimberly looked down at her outfit; she was wearing a pair of plain boot cut, denim, jeans and one of her brother’s shirts.

“We’re going to a piano concert, not the grocery store!” Jean ran over to Kimberly’s walk-in closet to run through it.

“Then you pick out my stupid outfit” Kimberly pulled off her shirt just as Jean threw a new one at her.

Jean ended up picking out a pair of ripped black skinny jeans, a belt with piano pattern studs, plain black shirt and a red vest. Kimberly laced up her old black combat boots and Jean threw another fit. “No, no, no!” she shouted.

“Fine! Fine! Pick my shoes!” Kimberly threw off her boots and they landed somewhere under her desk.

“Yay!” Jean ran into Kimberly’s ‘shoe section’ in her closet and came out with a pair of red leather stilettos to match the vest. “Let me do your hair too?”

“No,” Kimberly put her hair up the way she always did, in a high ponytail. “You picked my outfit and my shoes; I’m doing my own hair. You can’t have it both ways”

“Fine,” Jean pulled out her zebra print iPhone, and started texting someone. “C’mon, there’s a taxi waiting for us”
